VALENTINE'S PILLOW CASE

I saw this adorable idea in a past issue of Living Crafts magazine: to make your child a pillow case for the different holidays or seasons. I searched and searched for an organic cotton material that was in the spirit of Valentine's Day and love, but didn't find much. So, I opted for this bright pink organic cotton, which I found at Joann's and then used a little bit of heart material for the band. Boo Boo will be very excited for her own pillow case and I'm quite certain she will be spritzing it frequently with the lavender water (recipe found in Amanda Blake Soule's book, Handmade Home) we recently created.

LAVENDER EYE PILLOWS

In the spirit of Valentine's and love, we have been busy this month creating gifts for those we love. We started off with peppermint lip balm last week, then on to candles this week (in honor of Candlemas and as a Valentine's gift), and today, we created lavender eye pillows. I found this very easy pattern and idea in a wonderful book called "Handmade Home" by Amanda Blake Soule. Check out her blog at http://www.soulemama.com/ and take a look at her books if you get a chance ... totally inspiring. Here are some pictures of our first adventure in lavender eye pillows.

THE FINAL MASTERPIECE

Well, here it is. You can imagine that decorating this candle was Boo Boo's first priority upon wakening. She even chose to put the froggy a little lower so it will be a while before he melts ;-) Enjoy!

CANDLEMAS

Today, in honor of Candlemas, we made pure beeswax container candles and a poured pillar candle. Boo Boo's favorite part was using the cookie cutters to cut out decorations from the beeswax sheets. We'll have to be patient and allow plenty of cooling time before decorating the pillar candle tomorrow. However, the excitement got the best of Boo Boo and she just had to decorate at least the top of the container candles ;-)
