CANDLEMAS

Today, in honor of Candlemas, we made pure beeswax container candles and a poured pillar candle. Boo Boo's favorite part was using the cookie cutters to cut out decorations from the beeswax sheets. We'll have to be patient and allow plenty of cooling time before decorating the pillar candle tomorrow. However, the excitement got the best of Boo Boo and she just had to decorate at least the top of the container candles ;-)

CANDLES

In preparing to celebrate Candlemas this year (February 2nd), we are trying our hand at candle-making. As our candle projects progress over the next couple of weeks, we hope to have a whole host of beautiful candles to proudly burn on February 2nd (and perhaps a little help from a ground hog in bringing some light and warmth ;-)). We also plan to include some of our creations in Valentine's presents, along with some other goodies we'll be blogging about. Here is a picture of Boo Boo's very first attempt at rolling candles. She is very proud and beamed as bright as her candle while having our candle-lit dinner.

A GLIMPSE AT A RELAXING AFTERNOON

It has been quite chilly here in south Florida ... much different than our expected high in the low 70s and low in the low 60s. Brrr is all I can say. I do realize we have little to complain about as the rest of the country is very frosty. But, it is different for us and we haven't been spending near as much time outdoors. Before the very wet and chilly day sets in tomorrow (I've heard rumors it could even snow!!!!!!!) we decided to head outside and take advantage of a little warmer sunshine this afternoon. Tigger and Mojo were even treated to an afternoon of brushing ... Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy ;-)

WINTER NATURE TABLE SWAP ITEMS ARRIVE

We've been waiting (not so patiently ;-)) for our goodies and they are finally here. As you may remember from a post early in December, Boo Boo and I created tiny little babies in walnut cradles to share in a Winter Nature Table swap. Those were sent out and distributed to others participating in the swap all over the world. Now, we've received our goody box with delightful treasures made by talented families from all over.

CHRISTMAS WITH A FOUR-YEAR-OLD

Boo Boo is four years old and really knows what Christmas is all about: spreading love and giving to others, baking goodies and sharing with friends and neighbors, creating beautiful handmade gifts and tenderly wrapping each one, making delightful ornaments, decorating the house - indoors and out and anything that stood still for a moment, hot cocoa, peppermint, singing Christmas carols, the Nutcracker, reading our favorite Christmas books over and over again (especially Jan Brett's "Gingerbread Baby" and "Gingerbread Friends"), making gingerbread houses ... and last, but not least, celebrating at Grandma's house in Ohio, with snow!. It has been a busy month and we have relished every moment!!!!! I hope you enjoy the pictures.
